Many of us use the beginning of a new year as an opportunity to focus on matters related to health and nutrition. In addition to exercising, dieting, and making healthier food choices, it is naturally important to keep yourself informed on where your food comes from and how it is handled. Each year, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collects data on outbreaks of foodborne diseases and illnesses across the nation. Thanks to news coverage of the major outbreaks, we are better informed and able to avoid many of these situations. Other more obscure happenings, however, may never cross our radar.
