The CDC reported last week that 4 Washington residents and 8 other Americans were reported to have been infected with Salmonella Panama. The source of the contamination has been traced back to cantaloupes purchased from a national warehouse chain. On March 22, 2011, Del Monte Fresh Produce, N.A., has recalled nearly 5,000 cartons of cantaloupes due to the outbreak. The cantaloupes were distributed through warehouse clubs in Washington and six other states.
